If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and wished for a brighter, straighter, more uniform smile then you’re not alone. Here at M Dental Greenwich we offer an array of treatment options but today let’s talk about Veneers and Composite Bonding. Whilst both options can dramatically change your smile they both have different strengths. But how do you know which option is right for you? That is why we are here!
What is Composite Bonding?
Composite bonding is a minimally invasive treatment where we apply a tooth-coloured resin directly to the teeth. Treatment can often be carried out in just one visit.
With composite bonding we shape, sculpt and polish the resin to blend in with your surrounding teeth. This helps to achieve a natural smile after treatment.
From a cost perspective Composite Bonding is the cheaper alternative to veneers. Used primarily to fix small chips, close gaps, fix worn edges it can also help with mild discoloration.
The treatment is minimally invasive (no drilling involved) and offers immediate results. On the flip side Composite Bonding isn’t considered as durable as veneers, it can stain over time (especially for red wine and tea drinkers) and has a lifespan of around 3-5 years.
What Are Veneers?
Veneers are thin porcelain (or composite) shells that are custom-made to fit over the front surface of your teeth. They’re bonded securely in place allowing for a smile transformation. Unlike Composite Bonding, Veneers aren't available in just one visit with treatment typically taking around 2-3 visits.
From a cost perspective Veneers are higher in cost than Composite Bonding. However if you factor in they are long lasting they make for better value. They are also able to provide a more dramatic result for teeth that aren’t in the best condition. Whether that is due to staining, misalignment or worn down teeth. With the right care they can last between 10-15 years and more.
What Option Should You Choose? Composite Bonding or Veneers?
If you're looking for quick results to fix a small concern and want to keep costs down, Composite Bonding could be perfect for you. Veneers however provide a longer term solution, offer a complete makeover and are often considered a better investment.
But what is exactly right for you will depend on a number of factors. These include desired results, costs, timeline, lifestyle and more. It is important to ensure that you understand your options and the best way to do that is to book a consultation. Here at M Dental Greenwich our consultation enables us to discuss your goals, assess your teeth, and help you choose the option that suits your smile, lifestyle and budget.
